ahhh, cool! a few weeks ago, I found several pebbles at the beach that also had circular holes in them...I can't think of any way to explain it though...do you have any ideas how that stone got holes in it? they look almost man-made!

excellent shot!

These particular holes were left by fossil sponges..the fossil itself has eroded away, leaving the harder chalk that surrounded it...Other times I guess it's just the action of the water and sand that makes holes in things..: )

ah, that makes sense! we have a lot of fossils in our area...there's actually a stone outcrop near my house that dates to the ordovician (or devonian, I'm not sure) anyway, it's open to the public to search for fossils...not a whole lot of exciting things, mostly trilobites, crinoids and horn corals....but I've found horn coral fossils at the very same beach where I found those odd pebbles, and the holes were about the right size for a horn coral to fit inside. I mean, it could be anything. but water and sand makes sense too, and is perhaps the more logical explanation. At first I wondered if the pebbles were beads made by prehistoric people ^^

A beautiful photo. Definitely a :+fav:!

But what's interesting is that I came across this photo by searching for mandalas. I was wondering how you see that. Did you mean the litteral circle, or the way that your eye is lead towards the center (the way I saw it)?
